But sometimes, some antibodies mistakenly recognize the healthy cells of the body as enemies. These antibodies specifically attack the nucleus of each cell, thinking it is a germ or invader.

Small amounts of antinuclear antibodies are not uncommon in healthy people. But danger arises when the number increases, because then the immune system itself starts attacking healthy cells, tissues and organs of the body. ANA test is not a diagnostic test. It cannot detect any specific disease. But with the help of an ANA report, doctors can make a diagnosis based on your symptoms, medical history, and other test results.

During the ANA Test
