It also helps screen for other liver conditions such as hepatitis, bile duct disorders, and cirrhosis. A Fibrosis-4 (FIB-4) Index is also included in this package, which helps estimate the risk of liver fibrosis. What to Expect Before the Test

• You need to fast overnight for at least 8 - 12 hours before undergoing tests.
• Do not eat or drink anything except water during the fasting period.
• Avoid alcohol and intense exercise for 24 - 48 hours before the test.
• Inform your doctor about all current medications, as certain long-term medications, supplements, or herbal products can alter test results. Do not stop any prescribed medication unless advised by your doctor.

What to Expect During the Sample Collection

A blood sample is collected using a routine procedure that takes less than 5 minutes. The steps for the same are as follows:

• An elastic band is tied around your upper arm for better access to veins.
• The skin is cleaned with an antiseptic, and a needle is inserted into the vein.
• The needle is withdrawn after the sample is collected, and a bandage is placed over the site to prevent minor bleeding.

What to Expect After the Test

• The test procedure is generally safe with minimal to no risks.
• Feeling dizzy for a few seconds is normal and usually resolves with a little rest.
• As the test involves fasting, eat a light meal after the test and before resuming your daily activities.

Alkaline Phosphatase (ALP) Test

A liver enzyme that serves as a useful marker of certain liver conditions. Elevated ALP levels may indicate bile duct obstruction, cholestasis, or bone disorder. 

Fasting Blood Sugar (FBS) Test

Measures levels of fasting blood sugar. Helpful in the detection of underlying diabetes or insulin resistance, which are major risk factors for fatty liver disease.

Gamma Glutamyl Transferase (GGT) Test

A liver enzyme helpful in the detection of liver conditions related to liver injury, bile duct obstruction, and alcohol-related or metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD). 

Bilirubin - Indirect Test

Measures unconjugated bilirubin. Bilirubin is a breakdown product of hemoglobin and is processed by the liver.

Albumin/Globulin Ratio

Measures the ratio of two important plasma proteins produced by the liver- albumin and globulin. An abnormal ratio may indicate impaired liver function.

Hepatitis B Surface Antigen Test

Checks for a special protein or antigen present on the surface of the hepatitis B virus. Helpful in the detection of viral hepatitis.

Hepatitis C Antibody Rapid Antibody Test

Checks for antibodies formed against the hepatitis C virus in the blood. The presence of these antibodies may indicate past or current viral infection, responsible for liver inflammation.

Lipid Profile Test

It involves a group of tests that measure the levels of different subtypes of lipids. Helps detect hypercholesterolaemia or dyslipidaemia, which are major risk factors for fatty liver disease and heart disease.
