Divalproex belongs to the group of medicine called anticonvulsants. It is used
to control and manage a certain type of seizures.
Uses of Divalproex
- To treat various types of seizure disorders
- To treat manic episodes that are related to bipolar disorder (manic depression)
- To prevent migraine headaches
Contraindications of Divalproex
When should one not use Divalproex
- Depression
- Dysfunction of the brain
- Liver problems
- High levels of ammonia in blood (associated with N Acetyl Glutamate Synthase deficiency)
- Neurologic dysfunction
- Inflammation of the pancreas
- Pophyria
- Pregnancy
- Low amount of albumin proteins in the blood
- Hereditary liver metabolism disorder
- Decreased blood platelets
- In those having thoughts of suicide
- Known allergic reaction to the medicine and its analogues
