The widal test checks the levels of antibodies and antigens that are found in the blood, analysing the following levels:

• The H (flagellar) and O (somatic) antigens cause a typhoid infection, and in case of an infection, the blood will have antibodies. The widal test checks for these antibodies.
• The antigens and the antibodies interact with each other, and this interaction will be analysed
• When the antibodies and antigens interact with each other, the blood starts to clump. The widal test slide method uses agglutination to check for this clumping

During the Widal Test
