  • Summary
Jaanch Post Delivery Health Check is designed to assess a new mother's overall recovery and nutritional health after childbirth. It evaluates thyroid function through Free T3, Free T4, and ultrasensitive TSH, as postpartum thyroid changes are common. It also includes an Iron Deficiency Profile and a complete blood count (Hemogram-6 Part) to screen for postpartum anaemia, a frequent concern after delivery. Key nutrients, including Calcium, Vitamin D (Total), Folate, Magnesium, and Vitamin B-12, are checked because nutritional demands increase during pregnancy and breastfeeding and may lead to deficiencies if nutritional needs are not met through diet. The package also evaluates kidney health through Serum Creatinine and liver and heart health through the SGOT-SGPT ratio and Lipid Profile. Ideal for women in the postpartum period who want to assess recovery, nutritional deficiencies, and overall health after childbirth.Read more

Overview

Overview

The Jaanch Post-Delivery Health Check package is a comprehensive health assessment for postpartum women, designed to assess certain health parameters during the postpartum period. Pregnancy, delivery, and breastfeeding can cause significant demands on the mother’s body, and some complications may become apparent months after childbirth. By assessing multiple health parameters together, this package may help identify anaemia, nutritional deficiencies, thyroid dysfunction, metabolic disorders, and other health conditions that may require further evaluation after delivery.

This package contains 59 tests that assess blood health, iron stores, blood sugar, cholesterol, liver and kidney function, and thyroid health. It also includes tests for calcium, magnesium, vitamin D, vitamin B12, and folate, essential vitamins and minerals, which are important nutrients for maternal health. The package may be recommended for women experiencing persistent fatigue, weakness, dizziness, mood changes, unexplained weight changes, muscle cramps, hair loss, or palpitations after childbirth. Women who experienced significant blood loss, anaemia, gestational diabetes, pre-eclampsia, or thyroid disorders during pregnancy may benefit from this package.

The package requires a blood sample, which a trained phlebotomist will collect at your home. An overnight fast of 10 to 12 hours is recommended before the blood sample collection. Your doctor will interpret the results in the context of your symptoms and pregnancy and delivery history to provide a comprehensive assessment of your health and advise appropriate treatment, nutritional supplementation, lifestyle modifications, or further evaluation, if required.

Who Should Book the Jaanch Post-Delivery Health Check Package?

How to Prepare for the Jaanch Post-Delivery Health Check Package?

How to Prepare for the Jaanch Post-Delivery Health Check Package?

What to expect before the sample collection:

  • Your doctor may recommend fasting for 8 to 12 hours before sample collection. You may schedule the test for the early morning.
  • During the fasting period, you may drink plain water unless advised otherwise. Avoid alcohol and strenuous exercise for at least 24 hours before the test, as these may temporarily affect certain test results.
  • Tell your doctor about any prescription medications, over-the-counter medicines, vitamin supplements, or herbal products you take, as some may affect specific test results. Do not stop taking any prescribed medication unless your doctor specifically advises you to do so.
  • If you have a fever, an ongoing infection, or have recently undergone surgery or a medical procedure, tell your doctor, as these factors may affect how certain test results are interpreted.

What to expect during the sample collection:

  • The sample collection process is simple and usually takes only a few minutes.
  • A trained phlebotomist will visit your home at the scheduled time. They will clean the blood draw site, usually on the inner arm, with an antiseptic swab. They will then wrap an elastic tourniquet around the upper arm to make the vein more visible. They may also gently tap on the vein.
  • A small needle is then inserted to draw the blood sample, which may cause a brief pinprick or mild sting. Once the required amount is collected in a tube, the needle is removed, gentle pressure is applied, and a small bandage is placed over the site.
  • If you are prone to fainting or have anxiety about needles, mention this to the phlebotomist before the sample collection. They can make the process more comfortable, such as doing the procedure while you are lying down instead of sitting up.
  • You can stay calm and relaxed by breathing slowly, distracting yourself by talking with a friend or family member, or playing music to make the process smoother.

What to expect after the sample collection:

  • You can resume your normal diet, medications, and activities soon after this test unless your doctor advises otherwise.
  • Mild pain, bruising, or tenderness at the blood collection site may occur but typically resolves within a day or two without treatment.
  • Once your samples are analysed, the reports will be uploaded to the PharmEasy platform, where you can download them.
  • Share your results with your doctor. They will review and interpret them along with your symptoms, medical history, and any other investigations before recommending further evaluation, treatment, or lifestyle modifications, if required.

Note: If you notice anything unusual at the puncture site, such as persistent bleeding, a rash, or pain, consult your doctor.

Non-HDL cholesterol

< 160 mg/dL

VLDL cholesterol

5–40 mg/dL

Thyroid profile: 3 parameters

Thyroid function tests (TSH, free T3, and free T4) after childbirth may help identify thyroid dysfunction, including postpartum thyroiditis. Postpartum thyroiditis can cause a temporary overactive phase followed by an underactive phase during the first year after delivery.

Parameter

Normal range

Thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) – ultrasensitive

0.54–5.30 µIU/mL

Free triiodothyronine (FT3)

2.0 - 4.4 pg/mL

Free thyroxine (FT4)

0.93 - 1.7 ng/dLL

Iron profile: 4 parameters

An iron profile after childbirth helps assess iron status, which may be affected by pregnancy and blood loss during delivery. It can identify iron deficiency when interpreted together with the CBC and other clinical findings.

Parameter

Normal range

Iron

50–170 µg/dL

Total iron-binding capacity (TIBC)

215–535 µg/dL

% Transferrin saturation

13–45%

Unsaturated iron-binding capacity (UIBC)

162–368 µg/dL

Glycosylated haemoglobin test (HbA1c): 2 parameters

HbA1c after childbirth reflects average blood sugar levels over the past 2 to 3 months. It can be useful for longer-term assessment in appropriate patients.

Parameter

Reference range

HbA1c (glycosylated haemoglobin)

<5.7% (normal)

5.7–6.4% (prediabetes)

≥6.5% (diabetes)

People Also Ask

When is the best time to undergo testing with this package?

This package is generally recommended 6 weeks after delivery up to 1 year or more, depending on your doctor’s advice.

Is it safe to give a blood sample while breastfeeding?

Yes. Giving a blood sample does not affect breastfeeding or milk supply, and you can continue feeding your baby as usual before and after the test.

Is fasting safe for breastfeeding mothers?

If fasting is required for the specific tests, discuss it with your doctor, particularly if you have diabetes, feel unwell, or are recovering from significant blood loss. Drink plain water during the fasting period unless advised otherwise. If you feel dizzy or unwell while fasting, stop fasting and seek medical advice.

Can I drink water before the test?

Yes. You may drink plain water, which helps keep you hydrated and makes blood collection easier.

Can biotin supplements affect my results?

Yes. Biotin, often found in hair and nail supplements commonly taken after delivery, can interfere with thyroid test results. Inform your doctor if you take biotin, as you may be advised to stop it for a few days before testing.

Should I take my thyroid medicine on the day of the test?

Follow your doctor's or laboratory's instructions. If thyroid function testing is being performed, you may be advised to have the blood sample collected before taking your thyroid medicine that morning.

Can I take this test if I am still experiencing postpartum bleeding?

Yes. However, ongoing or heavy bleeding should be discussed with a doctor because it may require prompt clinical assessment and can affect haemoglobin and iron-related results.

Can I take this test after a caesarean delivery?

Yes. The test requires only a blood sample from the arm and does not affect your wound or recovery. Home collection also means you do not need to travel while healing.

Can hormonal contraceptives affect my results?

Yes. Some hormonal contraceptives may influence cholesterol, triglyceride, and certain other test results. Inform your doctor if you have started any contraception after delivery.

Can this package diagnose postpartum depression?

No. Postpartum depression is diagnosed through clinical assessment by a doctor. However, this package can help identify conditions such as thyroid dysfunction, anaemia, and vitamin deficiencies, which may contribute to mood changes and fatigue.

Does this package check my baby's health?

No. This package assesses the mother's health only. Your baby's health should be monitored separately by a paediatrician.
