Anovate Cream: Uses and Side Effects

By Dr. Mayuri Pandey +2 more

What is Anovate cream?

If you’re one of the many people dealing with piles or other rectal disorders, you may have heard of Anovate cream. Piles is a common condition that affects many individuals, characterised by the formation of lumps inside and around the anus, leading to several unpleasant symptoms such as pain, irritation, and bleeding during bowel movements.1 In addition to piles, Anovate cream is also used to treat anal fissures, a condition that causes painful tears in the lining of the anal canal.2 This topical treatment is gaining popularity as an effective solution for these conditions. Anovate cream contains three main ingredients, namely Beclomethasone, phenylephrine, and lidocaine. These components act together to provide relief from the discomfort and complications associated with piles.3 If you’re considering using Anovate cream, it’s crucial to first consult with a doctor. They can assess your condition and determine if this product is necessary. They can also provide guidance on its usage for best possible results.

How does the Anovate cream work?

Anovate cream may be a viable solution to alleviate your discomfort. The combination of beclomethasone, phenylephrine, and lidocaine in this cream can help reduce the symptoms of piles. Beclomethasone is a steroid that helps to reduce inflammation and itching, while phenylephrine helps reduce swelling and pain. It works by making the blood vessel in the affected area smaller and relieves the pressure caused by it. 4,5

Lidocaine is a local anaesthetic that helps to numb the area and relieve pain.6 However, it’s important to use this product under medical supervision and seek professional help as soon as any adverse effects are seen.

Topical steroids can be used in adults and children beyond 12 years and older individuals for a variety of reasons, in haemorrhoids they are helpful to reduce the symptoms, but they do not treat the cause of the diseases, they can be used 3-4 times a day for up to 7 days, not beyond that.
