It remains a significant public health concern, especially in areas with inadequate sanitation and limited access to clean water1.
Most people recover fully and develop a long-lasting immunity against the HAV once they have been affected. However, in rare cases, hepatitis A can lead to severe complications, including liver failure (more common in older adults with underlying conditions). Fortunately, a safe and effective vaccine is available that offers reliable protection against this preventable disease2.
