A quick info on Comprehensive Gold Full Body Checkup with Arthritis and Cancer Screening
Overview
The Comprehensive Gold Full Body Checkup is a detailed health package that includes multiple tests to assess your overall health. It combines general health tests along with screening for arthritis and certain cancers.
This package helps evaluate:
- Blood sugar, cholesterol, and thyroid levels
- Liver, kidney, and heart health
- Inflammation and joint health
- Early stages of long-term (chronic) disease, like cancer
Doctors often suggest this test as a routine health check to catch possible problems early, before a health condition becomes serious.
When and Who Should Get a Full Body Checkup?
This package helps give an overall check of your health and find possible problems early. This package may be recommended in the following situations:
- As a routine health check-up to assess overall health status.
- People experiencing fatigue, weakness, confusion, or breathing problems.
- Individuals with joint pain, swelling, or stiffness.
- Those with unexplained weight loss or loss of appetite.
- People with a past medical or family history of cancer.
How Frequently Should You Take a Full Body Checkup?
You should consider this test in the following situations:
Health Scenario | Context | Recommended Frequency |
Routine health check | To monitor overall health and detect issues early | Once a year/every 6 months |
Family history or existing conditions | Higher risk of certain diseases | As advised by your doctor |
Ongoing or unexplained symptoms | Fatigue, weight changes, frequent urination, joint pain, or digestive issues | As advised by your doctor |
What Conditions Can a Full Body Checkup Help Detect?
This comprehensive checkup may help identify early indications of the following conditions:
- Blood-related disorders: Such as anaemia (low haemoglobin), infections, clotting issues, immune problems, and some blood cancers.
- Type 2 diabetes and prediabetes: High blood sugar levels, changes in the way the body uses sugar.
- Heart disease risk: High cholesterol with triglycerides and possible increased risk of heart attack or blocked arteries.
- Liver problems: Conditions like fatty liver (buildup of fat in the liver) that affect liver function.
- Kidney problems: Reduced ability of the kidneys to filter waste, including early kidney damage.
- Thyroid disorders: Overactive or underactive thyroid (hyperthyroidism or hypothyroidism, respectively), affecting energy levels and metabolism.
- Rheumatoid arthritis and autoimmune conditions: Conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), and other autoimmune disorders, where the immune system attacks the body’s own tissues.
- Pancreatic disorders: Conditions affecting the digestive system, such as pancreatitis.
- Vitamin deficiencies: Low levels of essential vitamins like B12 and D, affecting energy, nerves, and bones, and haemoglobin formation.
- Electrolyte imbalance: Imbalance in minerals important for heart, muscle, and nerve function.
- Iron-related disorders: Conditions like iron-deficiency anaemia (where the body is not able to produce enough haemoglobin due to low iron levels) or excess iron levels.
- Certain digestive system cancers: Hepatobiliary (liver, gallbladder, or bile duct), pancreatic, or colorectal (intestinal) cancers.
Note: This package is used for screening purposes only. Abnormal results require further tests for confirmation.
How to Prepare for the Full Body Checkup?
Fasting Requirements
Fasting for 10 to 12 hours before the test is mandatory. This is required to ensure accurate results for Fasting Blood Sugar (FBS) and Lipid Profile - two of the most important panels in this package. During the fasting period:
- You may drink plain water freely - staying hydrated is important.
- Avoid all food, milk, tea, coffee, juices, and all beverages other than water.
- Avoid smoking and alcohol for at least 24 hours before the test.
- Continue taking your regular prescribed medications unless your doctor advises otherwise.
- Morning appointments are strongly recommended - fast overnight and get tested first thing in the morning for maximum convenience.
Blood and Urine Sample Collection
This package requires two samples: one blood sample and one urine sample. A certified PharmEasy phlebotomist will visit your home at your chosen time slot and collect both samples. For the urine sample, a sterile container will be provided. Collect a midstream clean-catch sample - let the first few drops pass into the toilet, then collect the midstream into the container. The ideal urine sample is the first morning urine.
Medications and Supplements to Inform Your Doctor About
- Statins (cholesterol-lowering drugs) affect lipid levels.
- Biotin or multivitamin supplements - biotin can interfere with thyroid hormone and Vitamin D assays. Stop at least 48 to 72 hours before the test.
- Diabetes medications (insulin, metformin) - affect blood sugar results.
- Thyroid medications (levothyroxine) - take after the blood draw, not before.
- NSAIDs, ACE inhibitors, or diuretics can affect kidney function and electrolyte parameters.
