Dryness can be due to several factors. It is essential to know your hair first before using any oil or shampoo. The texture of the hair differs individually. Here are some causes of dry hair-

  • Recurrent use of hair chemicals or harsh shampoos

Home remedies for dry hair 

When you face any hair problem first, you need to start looking for home remedies from your kitchen. There is a lot of hair-friendly product that is available in our kitchen. Using ingredients from your pantry is not only convenient, but it also gives you the same, if not better, results as high-end hair treatments with none of the chemicals. Here are some best home remedies for dry hair-

1: Regular oiling with hot oil 
Hot hair oil massage is one of the essential treatments for dry hair. Various oils are useful to treat dry hair effectively, such as coconut oil, almond oil, jojoba oil, and olive oil. All these oils are rich in vitamin E and antioxidants that help lock the moisture in your hair. You can combine all these oils to make an effective homemade oil. 

How to use

  • Mix all oils and warm it but do not boil.
  • Gently massage this oil on the scalp and hair. 
  • Cover the hair with a warm towel.
  • Leave for 30−45 minutes or overnight.
  • After this time, shampoo and rinse the hair.

2: Hair massage with butter 
If you have dry and brittle hair, then apply a small amount of butter to get a natural shine. 

How to use

  • Massage the butter on the hair.
  • Cover your hair with a shower cap for about a half-hour. 
  • Wash your hair with shampoo. Make sure to rinse all the butter out.

3: Egg yolk and water pack 
The egg is the best remedy for every hair problem. Egg yolk is an excellent remedy for dry hair that conditions your hair shafts and keeps them moisturized.

How to use 

  • Separate the egg yolk from the egg white.
  • Then add 3 tablespoons of water in it and mix well.
  • Apply all over your hair and wait for 30 minutes before washing with cold water.

4: Egg yolk and honey mask
Eggs are rich in proteins, sulfur, biotin, and honey is rich in antioxidants. Both ingredients help restore the moisture to avoid further damage. 

How to use 

  • Separate the egg yolk from the egg white.
  • Add a tablespoon of honey and few drops of essential oil to combat the egg smell. 
  • Wisk the mixture and apply it to your hair and scalp. 
  • Let it soak for 20-30 minutes.
  • Wash the pack with shampoo and cold water.

5: Yogurt and honey mask
This combination is excellent for dry hair. Yoghurt is rich in proteins that build hair, has lactic acid that cleanses the scalp. The honey helps to seal the moisture and fight damage

How to use

  • Combine yoghurt and honey nicely. 
  • Apply the mask onto your scalp and hair.
  • Leave it for 15 -20 minutes.
  • Rinse your hair with cold water and shampoo.

6: Rice milk and honey hair wash Rice milk is one of the old but famous tricks to seal the natural moisture in your hair. It also nourishes the hair. Honey is a natural emollient that keeps your hair smooth.

 How to use

  • Take one cup of rice milk and add 2 tablespoons of honey in it.
  • Mix the ingredients until it is consistent.
  • Apply this mixture over your hair and allow it to sit for 10-15 minutes.
  • Wash it off with shampoo.

7: Avocado and banana pack 
It is the most trending hair pack now. Avocado is rich in proteins, amino acids, and vitamins to soothe the scalp and promote healthy hair growth. It contains natural oils that moisturize your hair. Banana contains folic acid and potassium that nourishes the hair.

How to use

  • Blend avocado and peeled banana in a fine paste. 
  • Add some drops of olive oil and blend it again. 
  • Apply this mask to your hair and cover it with a shower cap.
  • Leave it for 20-30 minutes and rinse it off.

8: Aloe Vera mask  
Aloe Vera is the best option for your hair and skin. It is a good source of vitamins and minerals. Aloe Vera helps to repair damaged hair and nourish them with proper nutrients.  

How to use 

  • Take a bowl, combine 3 tablespoons of yoghurt, 4 tablespoons of aloe vera pulp, and 2 tablespoons of almond oil.  
  • Mix them well and apply them to your scalp and hair shafts.  
  • Leave the pack in for half an hour, and then rinse it out with lukewarm water and shampoo.

9. Egg and Mayonnaise pack

Both eggs and mayonnaise are loaded with protein, which helps to fortify and strengthen the hair and restore moisture to brittle or very dry hair.

People can prepare any one of these protein-based mixtures at home in the following ways:

First pack:

  1. Whip an egg white with 2 tablespoons of water.
  2. Apply the mixture to the hair and scalp.
  3. Massage with the fingertips in circular movements for a few minutes.
  4. Rinse the hair with cool water and then shampoo.

Second pack:

  1. Mix three eggs in a bowl.
  2. Add 2 tablespoons of olive oil and 1 tablespoon of honey.
  3. Apply the mixture to hair and scalp.
  4. Cover the head with a plastic covering or shower cap for about 30 minutes.
  5. Rinse the hair with cool water and shampoo.

Third pack:

  1. Wet the hair with warm water and gently apply to it a thick layer of mayonnaise.
  2. Gently massage the hair and scalp, working it through the hair strands to the ends.
  3. Cover the head with a plastic cap for 30 minutes to 1 hour.
  4. Rinse the hair with cool water and shampoo.

How to manage dry hair

  • Avoid overuse of hair styling products.
  • Avoid excessive sun exposure.
  • Apply a weekly moisturizing hair mask.
  • Avoid washing hair too often. Limit to once or twice a week.
  • Use mild, herbal and sulphate-free shampoos.
