Rybelsus price in India
Rybelsus is available in India with MRPs starting from approximately ₹2,972 for a strip of 10 tablets (3 mg). The 7 mg strip is priced at around ₹3,300, while the 14 mg strip has an MRP of approximately ₹3,628. Please note that the actual selling prices may be lower than the MRP, so always check the latest price before purchasing.
Prescription required. Rybelsus is available only with a valid doctor's prescription. The exact dose and treatment duration are decided by your doctor.

Rybelsus price by strength
Rybelsus comes as tablets in three strengths, each in a strip of 10:
What a month of Rybelsus costs
Unlike the once-weekly GLP-1 injections, Rybelsus is taken once daily. Each strip contains 10 tablets (10 days’ supply), so most people need approximately three strips for a month’s treatment. Your monthly cost therefore depends on the strength your doctor prescribes. Based on August 2026 pricing, the approximate monthly cost is:
How this is worked out: each strip holds 10 tablets and Rybelsus is taken once daily, so one strip lasts about 10 days and a month needs roughly three strips. The monthly figures above are three strips at the current PharmEasy price; your actual cost depends on the strength your doctor prescribes and the live selling price.
Your doctor will determine the most appropriate strength based on your blood sugar control and how well you tolerate the medicine. Actual selling prices may change over time, so always check the latest price before purchasing. A GLP-1 cost calculator will help you estimate your monthly and annual costs based on your prescribed strength.
Rybelsus vs injectable semaglutide on cost
Rybelsus, Ozempic, and Wegovy all contain the same active ingredient (semaglutide), but they differ in how they are taken, their approved uses, and their pricing. Also, keep in mind that they are not interchangeable. The available options include:2
Rybelsus (tablet, type 2 diabetes): Taken once daily and priced per strip of 10 tablets, with MRPs ranging from approximately ₹2,972 to ₹3,628 per strip, depending on the strength.
Ozempic (once-weekly injection, type 2 diabetes): Available as a prefilled pen, with MRPs starting from approximately ₹5,660. See our Ozempic price page.
Wegovy (once-weekly injection, chronic weight management): Available as a prefilled pen, with prices starting from approximately ₹5,660 for the 0.25 mg starter pen. See our Wegovy price page.
Note: Rybelsus is taken once daily while the injections (Ozempic for type 2 diabetes and Wegovy for chronic weight management) are taken once weekly. So, a direct price comparison may not provide meaningful results. The right medicine depends on your diagnosis, treatment goals, and your doctor’s recommendation (not on price alone).
Is there a generic oral semaglutide?
This is a recent development. The patent for semaglutide expired in India on 20 March 2026, following which more than 26 generic brands entered the market.3 Most of these are injectable formulations, while Torrent’s Semalix is the first generic oral semaglutide available in India (offering a tablet alternative to Rybelsus).4
Tablet Obeda marketed by Dr Reddy is also generic semaglutide. Although generic versions contain the same active ingredient (semaglutide), they are not always interchangeable. They may differ in available strengths, pack sizes, and approved indications. In India, oral semaglutide is approved for the management of type 2 diabetes. Therefore, any decision to start, stop, or switch between brands should be made in consultation with your doctor.

Does insurance cover Rybelsus?
In India, most standard health insurance plans primarily cover hospitalisation expenses and usually do not include the cost of outpatient medicines such as Rybelsus. However, if your policy includes OPD (outpatient department) coverage or a pharmacy or chronic-care rider, you may be eligible for reimbursement. Since Rybelsus is prescribed for the long-term management of type 2 diabetes, some plans with OPD benefits may cover part of its cost. So, check your policy details or contact your insurer to confirm your coverage.
Note: Check your health insurance policy or contact your insurer to confirm whether prescribed diabetes medicines and OPD pharmacy expenses are covered. Also, keep your doctor’s prescription and purchase invoice, as these may be required when making a reimbursement claim.
How to buy Rybelsus with a prescription
Rybelsus is a Schedule H prescription medicine and is not available over the counter. To obtain it safely and legally:
Book a teleconsultation or visit your physician. As per the DCGI’s March 2026 guidance, GLP-1 receptor agonists should be prescribed by qualified specialists such as endocrinologists, internal medicine physicians, or cardiologists.
A valid prescription that specifies the appropriate strength and dose-escalation (titration) plan.
A registered pharmacist will verify the prescription before dispensing the medicine.
Purchasing Rybelsus only with a valid prescription also helps protect you from counterfeit products. Reports of fake GLP-1 medicines emerged in India in 2026, making it important to buy only from trusted, licensed pharmacies. Always verify the packaging before use.
PharmEasy dispenses only genuine medicines sourced from licensed pharmacies. If you already have a valid prescription, you can view Rybelsus on PharmEasy and place your order.
