Although Shilajit is popularly known to manage blood glucose levels and can have beneficial effects on lipid profile, it is not recommended to use Shilajit for the treatment of diabetes. There has been no scientific evidence on if the effects of both Shilajit (ayurvedic medicine) and prescription medicine for Type 2 diabetes are the same.
Type 2 diabetes is characterised by the inability of our body cells to utilise insulin. One of the causes of Type 2 diabetes is obesity. A healthy fat-free diet, daily exercise, a regular course of medication and regular monitoring of blood sugar levels are beneficial in treating Type 2 diabetes.
