Betnovate-C Cream: Uses and Side Effects

By Dr. Mayuri Pandey +2 more

What is Betnovate-C cream?

Betnovate-C cream is here to help you regain control of your skin health. Betnovate-C cream is a topical medication that is commonly used to treat a range of skin conditions that involve inflammation and itching, such as eczema, dermatitis, and psoriasis. Betnovate-C cream contains two main ingredients betamethasone valerate, which is a corticosteroid, and clioquinol, which is an antifungal and antibacterial agent.1,2

Let’s dive in and learn the potential of Betnovate-C cream for your skin health!

बेटनोवेट-सी क्रीम का उपयोग और दुष्प्रभाव

Uses of Betnovate-C cream

Betamethasone valerate works in any condition that needs control of inflammation, swelling, and itching of the skin, while clioquinol helps to prevent the growth of fungi and bacteria on the skin, reducing the risk of infection.

It is important to note that this medication should only be used as directed by a healthcare provider, as misuse can lead to unwanted side effects such as thinning of the skin and increased risk of infections.

If you are experiencing any skin-related issues, it is important to consult with a healthcare provider or dermatologist who can assess your condition and determine if Betnovate-C cream is a suitable treatment option for you.

How does the Betnovate-C cream work?

Betnovate-C cream contains two main ingredients, betamethasone and clioquinol. Betamethasone reduces inflammation by suppressing the response of the immune system in that affected area. This helps to reduce swelling, redness, and itching associated with various skin conditions.
Clioquinol, on the other hand, is an antimicrobial agent that helps to fight off bacteria and fungi that may cause or exacerbate skin infections.
When Betnovate-C cream is applied to the affected area, betamethasone and clioquinol work together to reduce inflammation, itching, and bacterial or fungal growth.1,3,4

How to apply Betnovate-C cream?

To apply Betnovate-C cream, follow these directions:

1. Preparation:

  • Before and after using the lotion, make sure that you wash your hands properly.
  • Ensure that the affected area is clean and dry before applying the cream.

2. Application:

  • Apply a thin layer of the cream as directed by your healthcare provider and gently massage it into the affected area using only enough to cover the entire area.
  • Wash your hands thoroughly after applying the cream, unless you have applied it on your hands.
  • When using Betnovate-C cream with a moisturizing lotion, wait for the cream to fully absorb before applying the lotion to get the best results.
  • Once or twice daily, apply just enough cream to cover the entire affected area.
  • As your skin condition improves, you may need to use the cream less frequently.

It is important to follow these directions carefully and to use Betnovate-C cream only as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. If you experience any side effects or have any concerns about using this medication, speak with your healthcare provider.1,6
