Istamet is a combination of Two drugs, Sitagliptin and Metformin. Metformin may cause Diarrhoea. But no research has stated constipation as a side-effect. But there may be some chance that Zivast can induce constipation in some cases.

There are a variety of medications available for constipation. Medications are available in powdered, tablet, and syrup form, and should be taken before sleeping.

Each medicine acts by its mechanism. For example, some may work by pushing water into your stools and making them soft, bulky and easy to pass. At the same time, others may increase the pushing power of your intestine. Consult a doctor for a medicine that suits your body.

Generally, these medications do not have a good taste. Hence, many do not continue them for an extended period.

So before you start these medications, try some lifestyle changes.

    • Try drinking water a litre more than you usually drink.
    • Include fruits (in control as it contains fructose) and green leafy vegetable fibres in your diet.
    • Exercise regularly.

Although Shilajit is popularly known to manage blood glucose levels and can have beneficial effects on lipid profile, it is not recommended to use Shilajit for the treatment of diabetes. There has been no scientific evidence on if the effects of both Shilajit (ayurvedic medicine) and prescription medicine for Type 2 diabetes are the same.

Type 2 diabetes is characterised by the inability of our body cells to utilise insulin. One of the causes of Type 2 diabetes is obesity. A healthy fat-free diet, daily exercise, a regular course of medication and regular monitoring of blood sugar levels are beneficial in treating Type 2 diabetes.

Type 1 diabetes is a permanent genetic condition in which the insulin-producing pancreatic beta cells are damaged. This causes a lack of insulin, an essential hormone in our body. A permanent cure for Type 1 diabetes is difficult.

Stem cell therapy has been tried in Type 1 diabetes. The goal of stem cell therapy in diabetes is to make new pancreatic beta cells that can secrete insulin. As of now, stem cell therapy is considered an experimental treatment for Type 1 diabetes. Stem cell therapy may or may not be successful in every person with Type 1 diabetes undergoing it.

However, stem cell transplant has been shown to reduce the dose of external insulin injections.

Still, a complete cure is not expected with current techniques. It may change in the future with better techniques. Stem cell transplantation may offer a permanent cure for Type 1 diabetes in the future.

There are a couple of tests to do. Every specialist will prescribe you their set of tests. It is not good to get your tests done and approach your specialist.
But the following tests will include all which your doctor will recommend.

Since you have been off tablets for many days, the first test you may need to do is Random Blood Sugar. The following day, Fasting blood sugar at 8 A.M and then two and half hours after breakfast or lunch PP(postprandial blood sugar).

Since you haven’t checked your blood sugar for two months, there is another test for that. It is called HbA1c. This test is for seeing your blood sugar for the past three months.

You will also have to check for Urine sugar levels. This will help tell whether excess sugar in the blood is coming into the urine. Lastly, you may have to do one more test is Fasting Lipid Profile. Apart from all this, getting your tests done only after undergoing a good clinical examination is always recommended. So please meet your family doctor before you get any tests done.

It has been seen that individuals with proper controlled blood sugar have stable and well-maintained creatinine levels along with proper functioning of kidneys. Thus it is recommended to keep your blood sugar levels in control.

These tips might help reduce creatinine levels:
Avoid taking medications such as NSAIDs(non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) which may increase the load on kidneys.
Drink a good amount of water every day coupled with a proper and healthy diet along with routine exercises daily from time to time.

High blood sugar levels characterise diabetes. It can affect any age group. Type 1 generally affects children and adolescents, whereas Type 2 generally affects people above 30 years of age. The symptoms of both of these are almost the same in individuals. Type 1 is insulin dependent i.e. insulin is required to control blood sugar levels while oral medicines may help manage early cases of type 2. Your medicine suggests that your diabetes may not be type 1.

There are other types of diabetes as well, to confirm the type of diabetes your doctor will advise a few lab tests like , a Glutamic Acid Decarboxylase Autoantibodies test (GAD antibodies test), C- Peptide etc . Consult your doctor for the diagnosis.
