What is Naxdom 500 used for?

I was prescribed Naxdom 500 for headaches, but I’ve heard it’s mainly for migraines. Now I’m a bit confused about what this tablet is actually meant to treat. Does it work for regular headaches too, or is it specifically for migraine attacks?

    Dear Reader,

Naxdom 500 is a medicine commonly used for moderate to severe headaches, and also for migraine. It contains two ingredients:

    • Naproxen (500 mg) – a pain reliever and anti-inflammatory drug
    • Domperidone – helps reduce nausea and vomiting that often come with migraines.

Lets understand the different uses of Naxdom:

    1. Migraine headaches: This is the most common use of Naxdom 500. It helps reduce head pain, throbbing, light sensitivity, nausea, and vomiting during an attack. Domperidone helps the stomach empty faster, improving naproxen absorption and providing faster relief.
    2. Severe headaches: Doctors sometimes prescribe it for non-migraine headaches when the pain is severe or when paracetamol alone doesn’t help.
    3. Pain with nausea: If your headaches come with nausea or vomiting, Naxdom 500 works better than plain painkillers because of the domperidone component.

    Plz remember that-

    • It’s not meant for daily or long-term use.
    • Not recommended for mild headaches, paracetamol is usually safer for regular use.
    • Do not self-medicate for headaches

    Important points

    • Take it after food to avoid stomach irritation.
    • Avoid taking more than the prescribed dose.
    • Not suitable for people with gastric ulcers, severe acidity, heart problems, or kidney issues, unless the doctor approves.

In short, Naxdom 500 is mainly used for acute migraine attacks, but doctors also prescribe it for strong headaches that need more than a regular painkiller.

    Wishing you good health.
