Yes, there is a way to plan your diet for Type 1 diabetes. Build a daily eating routine and follow that on most days. Make sure you consume a balanced diet with adequate amounts of protein, fibres, healthy fats (nuts and seeds) and carbohydrates. Prefer foods with a low glycemic index (foods that release little sugar in your body) and do not have added sugar.
Limit the intake of foods having simple carbohydrates, for example, sweetened drinks, desserts, etc. Add lots of vegetables to your diet. Pick watery and citrus fruits instead of fruits that may put a high sugar load on your body. Avoid highly refined cereals, oily and fried food.
Type 1 diabetes is caused due to a deficiency of insulin. Taking insulin injections as recommended by your doctor is a must to manage Type 1 diabetes. But, your diet can certainly help you in better managing your condition.Manage your body weight in healthy range and learn about any particular diet restrictions if advised by your doctor
