Flaking resembling dandruff can be seen in the ear in the case of seborrheic dermatitis.
It can also be seen over the chest, back, or eyebrows. Sometimes the flakes can become thicker or more sticky.
It happens because of increased oil production. This oil is called sebum. Increased oil production can also cause redness, irritation, and itching.
The use of anti-dandruff shampoos can be continued. One can use them two or three times a week. However, additional treatment may be required using contents such as salicylic acid or steroid lotions.
A visit to a dermatologist is recommended. This will allow for an accurate diagnosis and complete treatment.
