    Dear Reader,

Yes, mild stomach upset may be a side effect of the combination medicine Montek LC Tablet(which contains Montelukast and Levocetirizine). In children, this can manifest as stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, or diarrhoea. These effects are usually minor and temporary, often resolving as your child’s body adjusts to the treatment.

Should you continue or stop the medicine? You should continue the medicine as prescribed until you have spoken to the doctor. Montek LC is typically used to manage and prevent allergy symptoms, and abruptly stopping it can cause your child’s original allergic symptoms to return or worsen.

    Action to Take:

    • Consult the Prescribing Doctor: Contact the doctor who prescribed the medicine as soon as possible. They need to be aware of stomach upset.
    • Medical Evaluation: Only the doctor can determine whether the stomach upset is directly related to the medicine, whether the dose needs to be adjusted, or whether an alternative treatment is necessary.
    • Taking with Food: The doctor may advise you to try giving the medicine with food, as this can sometimes help reduce mild gastrointestinal discomfort.

Always prioritise your child’s doctor’s advice.
