Considering your medical history, family history and any other deficiency before starting any diet plan can be helpful. You should consult a dietician or healthcare provider for a good diet plan.

There are many food options that will make up for your daily nutritional needs without causing any undesirable spikes in glucose levels. Here are a few tips for you:

    • Dividing your meals into two to three portions will help your body make better use of the available insulin.
    • Avoid sweets and sugar because they are high in calories.
    • Avoid foods rich in saturated fats (ghee, butter), cholesterol (fried foods) and sodium (all packed and preserved foods like chips, farsan, biscuits, etc.) as they increase the chances of developing heart diseases and stroke.
    • Eating meals rich in nutrients but low fats and sugars can be a good option e.g., home cooked meals instead of ready to eat options, grilled or baked meals instead of fried ones, etc.
    • Including whole grains like brown rice, millets, oats and barley and vegetables will give you a balanced diet.
    • Vegetables contain many vitamins and fibres that will keep you fuller.
