Xgeva 120 MG Description

Xgeva injection is used to slow down bone destruction in patients with bone metastasis and some forms of bone tumour (giant cell tumour). It contains denosumab as an active ingredient. It is one of t

he groups of medicine known as Monoclonal antibody. It helps in reducing the risk of fractures. This injection will be given by your doctor and you will also be asked to take calcium and Vitamin D supplements while undergoing treatment with this medicine. Do not try to self-administer. Contact your doctor immediately if you experience any abnormal symptoms related to teeth or mouth, unusual thigh pain or hypersensitivity reactions. Discuss your complete medical history and ongoing treatments.

Uses of Xgeva 120 MG

It is used in the treatment of bone-related disorders.
It slows down the bone destruction process caused by cancer spreading to the bone (bone metastasis) or giant cell tumour of bone (type of bone tumour, which cannot be removed by surgery).
It is used in adults with advanced cancer to prevent serious bone-related complications like fractures, pressure on the spinal cord or the need to receive radiation therapy or surgery.

Contraindications of Xgeva 120 MG

If you have any allergy to Denosumab or any other ingredient of this medicine. If your blood calcium level is low (hypocalcemia).

Side effects of Xgeva 120 MG

Pain in muscles and joints
Pain in hands and legs (extremities)
Frequent or painful urination
Urinary tract infection
Constipation
Pain or discomfort in the abdomen
Itching, dryness and redness on the skin
Hair loss
Numbness or tingling sensation that goes down your legs (sciatica)
Respiratory tract infection
Fever
Vomiting
Ear infection

Pregnancy

Can I be given Xgeva injection during pregnancy?

Limited information is available on the safety of this medicine during pregnancy. You should not take this medicine if you are pregnant unless your doctor advises you.

Breast Feeding

Can I be given Xgeva injection while breastfeeding?

There is very limited information about the effects of the Olimab Injection on a newborn baby but as a safety measure, you should avoid this medicine if you are breastfeeding your baby.

Driving

Can I drive if I have been given Xgeva injection?

This medicine does not have any effect on your driving ability. Hence, you can drive after using this medicine.

Alcohol

Can I consume alcohol with Xgeva injection?

Alcohol is not known to interact with this medicine. However, if you consume alcohol too often discuss it with your doctor.

Other General Warnings

Talk to your doctor if

You have any underlying medical condition like liver or kidney disorder etc.
Your blood calcium or vitamin D levels are below the normal range.
You experience any unusual pain in the thigh, groin or hips.
You experience any pain, swelling, redness or sores around your jaws, redness, swelling or pain in the skin etc.
You are below 18 years of age.
You have a habit of smoking or chewing tobacco.
You are diagnosed with any cancer.
You are on steroid therapy (oral or injectable).
You are taking any other medicines for the treatment of bone loss.
You experience numbness or tingling sensations, loss of consciousness, confusion- it may be due to low levels of calcium in the blood.

This medicine is for single use only.
Any unused medicine should be discarded.
Medicine should be stored below 30 C.
Do not use the medicine after the expiry date.
After usage of the medicine, all the materials should be discarded according to disposal guidelines.
Do not use if the ampoule is damaged or if the solution is cloudy or has solids in it.
If only part of the ampoule is used, throw away the rest of the solution.
