High-Sugar Foods

Sugary foods can provide a favorable environment for the growth of candida.

Grains Containing Gluten

Gluten can cause inflammation and damage the gut lining, creating an environment conducive to Candida growth. People sensitive to gluten should avoid it.

Processed Meats

These often contain preservatives and antibiotics that can disrupt gut flora balance and encourage Candida overgrowth. Examples include processed ham, salami, and some commercially raised salmon.

Refined Oils and Fats

These oils can cause inflammation and have been processed, which can negatively affect gut health. Margarine and reused vegetable oils used in frying and baking are common culprits.

Condiments

Many condiments contain sugar, preservatives, and additives that can feed Candida and disrupt gut balance. Ketchup and BBQ sauce, for example, are high in added sugars.
