Prothiaden 75 mg tablet is mainly used for the treatment of depression. Prothiaden 75 mg tablet comes under the therapeutic classification of tricyclic antidepressants. Depression is a medical condit
ion characterised by feelings of sadness, anger that can affect one's daily activities. Prothiaden 75 mg tablet is composed of 75 mg of Dosulepin/Dothiepin. It can also be used for some types of nerve pain, such as fibromyalgia, and to prevent migraines. Prothiaden 75 mg tablet is a prescription medicine, and it is to be taken exactly as suggested by the physician. The medicine should not be taken in more than prescribed amounts. The physician should be consulted immediately if the patient experiences any side effects, his or her condition worsens or allergic side effects. The medicine should be continued for as long as your doctor recommends. It is essential to follow the complete course of treatment. Contraindications of Prothiaden 75 MG
- It is contraindicated in the following cases:
- If you have Dosulepin/Dothiepin hypersensitivity or an allergy to any other ingredients present in Prothiaden 75 mg tablet
- If you are currently using Monoamine oxidase Inhibitors (MAOI) or have used them within the last 14 days
- If you have an acute recovery period after a myocardial infarction (heart attack)
- If you have epilepsy conditions

Prothiaden 75 mg tablet exerts its mechanism of action by acting on certain chemical neurotransmitters in the brain that helps regulate mood and depression. Prothiaden 75 mg tablet is considered a mixed reuptake inhibitor. It inhibits the reuptake of noradrenaline and serotonin in the brain. Noradrenaline acts as both hormone and neurotransmitter in the brain. It regulates alertness, focuses attention, restlessness and anxiety, whereas serotonin carries messages between nerve cells and regulates mood and anxiety.
Thus, by acting on these messengers, Prothiaden 75 mg tablet helps relieve the symptoms of depression....
Directions for Use of Prothiaden 75 MG
- Take Prothiaden 75 mg tablet exactly as directed by your doctor. Take the Prothiaden 75 mg tablet with or without food. Swallow Prothiaden 75 mg tablet with a glass of water. Do not chew or crush it.

- Interaction with anticoagulants like warfarin can increase the risk of bleeding.
- Interaction with benzodiazepines and antidepressants like phenelzine, iproniazid, isocarboxazid, nialamide and imipramine can cause additive central nervous system depressant effects.
- Interaction with anti-Parkinson's medicines like levodopa can decrease the absorption of the medicine levodopa.
- To avoid undesirable side effects associated with medicine interaction, inform your doctor about all medicines and supplements you are currently taking.
