ANAs are antinuclear antibodies that are generated like other antibodies by the White Blood Corpuscles (a component of the immune system) when the presence of a pathogen, like harmful bacteria, is detected. Antibodies are a kind of protein, and their function is to find the threat inside the body and destroy it.

However, sometimes, some antibodies mistake the healthy cells of the body as a threat and begin to attack and damage them. They may attack the nucleus of the cells, and this is when they are called antinuclear antibodies. Healthy cells being attacked by the immunity leads to an autoimmune disorder.

During the ANA Test

The ANA test requires a sample of your blood. The phlebotomist will reach your house at the time you chose while booking the test. The sample is sealed in a new tube and is taken to the laboratory where it will be analysed.
