It starts in the inner part of the kidney (medulla) and has irregular gland-like structures surrounded by fibrous tissue. III:<\/strong> Tumour may be smaller or larger, but cancer has spread to nearby lymph nodes or extends into major veins or surrounding fat (but not beyond the kidney\u2019s protective layer).\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Stage IV:<\/strong> Tumour extends beyond the kidney to nearby organs, the adrenal gland, or the large veins, or cancer has spread to distant organs.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Diagnosis_of_Kidney_Cancer\"><\/span><strong>Diagnosis of Kidney Cancer<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>When kidney cancer is suspected, doctors use a combination of laboratory tests, imaging, and sometimes biopsy to confirm the diagnosis and plan treatment<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/books\/NBK558975\/\"><sup>5<\/sup><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Laboratory Tests:<\/strong>\u00a0\n<ul invasion into veins or when contrast dye cannot be used.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Chest X-ray or CT: <\/strong>Checks for lung metastasis.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Bone scan and alkaline phosphatase: <\/strong>Detect bone involvement.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>CT or MRI of the head: <\/strong>Done if brain metastasis is suspected.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Other Tests:<\/strong>\u00a0\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Renal arteriography\/venography:<\/strong> Done if the tumour involves large veins like the inferior vena cava.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Genetic testing:<\/strong> Recommended for younger patients or those with a family history of kidney cancer.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Biopsy: <\/strong>Ultrasound- or CT-guided needle biopsy may be used for suspicious or cystic lesions but not routinely required.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Complications_if_Left_Untreated\"><\/span><strong>Complications if Left constipation, abdominal bloating, or discomfort.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Paraneoplastic syndromes:<\/strong> Conditions caused by the tumour, such as high red blood cell counts (erythrocytosis), high calcium levels, liver changes, high platelet counts, and enlarged liver or spleen.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Metastasis (spread of cancer):<\/strong>\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Lungs:<\/strong> breathing problems\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Bones:<\/strong> pain, fractures, or spinal cord
