Repeated episodes of fevers, itching, and swelling can be seen<sup><a href=\"https:\/\/pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/27866580\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">2<\/a><\/sup>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Secondary Causes of Eosinophilia<sup><a href=\"http:\/\/ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/sites\/books\/NBK560929\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">5<\/a><\/sup><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>When any other underlying conditions or diseases cause eosinophilia, they are referred\u00a0to\u00a0as secondary causes:\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Allergic\u00a0diseases:\u00a0<\/strong>Asthma, drug allergies, food allergies, drug rash with eosinophilia and systemic symptoms (DRESS) syndrome\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Parasitic\u00a0infections:\u00a0<\/strong>Mostly by\u00a0ancylostomiasis, ascariasis, schistosomiasis, toxocariasis\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Bacterial and\u00a0fungal\u00a0infections:\u00a0<\/strong>Scarlet fever,\u00a0allergic\u00a0bronchopulmonary aspergillosis, coccidiomycosis,\u00a0histoplasmosis\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Skin\u00a0diseases:\u00a0<\/strong>Atopic dermatitis, eczema, pemphigus, Sezary syndrome\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Symptoms_Associated_with_High_Eosinophils\"><\/span><strong>Symptoms Associated\u00a0with\u00a0High Eosinophils<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>While eosinophilia\u00a0itself\u00a0does not\u00a0cause\u00a0any symptoms,\u00a0they may be because of\u00a0the underlying causes<sup><a href=\"https:\/\/pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/articles\/PMC4515577\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">8<\/a><\/sup>:\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong>General:<\/strong>\u00a0fatigue and fever\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Skin-related:<\/strong>\u00a0itching and\u00a0swelling on the face\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Respiratory:<\/strong>\u00a0cough, difficulty in breathing and symptoms of\u00a0an\u00a0inflamed nose (rhinitis)\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Gastrointestinal:<\/strong>\u00a0diarrhoea\u00a0(with or without blood\u00a0in stools), vomiting, difficulty in swallowing,\u00a0and regurgitations\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Neurological:<\/strong>\u00a0abnormal\u00a0sensations\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Muscles and\u00a0bone-related:<\/strong>\u00a0muscle pain\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Heart-related:<\/strong>\u00a0Symptoms related to heart failure\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Eosinophilia itself can show symptoms when it\u00a0invades\u00a0tissues or causes\u00a0any organ injuries, especially in cases of\u00a0HES.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_Level_of_Eosinophils_Indicates_Cancer\"><\/span><strong>What Level of Eosinophils Indicates Cancer?<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>There is no single eosinophil number that automatically means cancer. Doctors consider cancer only when eosinophilia is persistent, common causes have been ruled out, the count does not improve after treating\u00a0a likely cause, or other warning signs are present. Eosinophilia can occur with some blood cancers, such as leukaemia and lymphoma, but these are more likely to be suspected when there are additional findings, such as abnormal white blood cell counts, low haemoglobin, low platelets, swollen lymph nodes, or an enlarged spleen or liver.
