Haemoglobin is the protein in RBCs that carries oxygen. This can cause RBCs to be destroyed faster<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhlbi.nih.gov\/health\/anemia\/hemolytic-anemia\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\"><sup>5<\/sup><\/a><sup>,<\/sup><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/thalassemia\/about\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\"><sup>8<\/sup><\/a>.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Hereditary spherocytosis: <\/strong>RBCs become round instead of disc-shaped. This may happen in serious conditions such as thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura, which can cause small blood clots, or haemolytic uremic syndrome, which can affect the kidneys and blood vessels<a href=\"https:\/\/pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/39835047\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\"><sup>12<\/sup><\/a>.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Paroxysmal Nocturnal Haemoglobinuria (PNH):<sup>\u00a0 <\/sup><\/strong>a complement-mediated form of acquired haemolytic anaemia.
