These\u00a0include:<sup><a href=\"https:\/\/www.who.int\/publications\/i\/item\/9789241502825\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">11<\/a><\/sup>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Cephalosporins:\u00a0<\/strong>These are commonly recommended medications as a first-choice treatment for children in many cases. However, they are no longer routinely recommended in many areas because of increasing antibiotic resistance<sup><a href=\"https:\/\/pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/31219092\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">12<\/a><\/sup>.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Hospital Care:\u00a0<\/strong>Some children may require hospital treatment if they have severe typhoid fever, prolonged vomiting, dehydration, confusion, problems, or are unable to take medications orally. In the hospital, they may be given IV antibiotics, fluids, and close monitoring<sup><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/books\/NBK557513\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">9<\/a><\/sup>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Note:<\/strong>\u00a0It is important to note that doctors will\u00a0advise\u00a0antibiotics depending on the antimicrobial resistance (pathogens become resistant to antibiotics) status in the area at that time. Never give\u00a0antibiotics to children without a doctor\u2019s prescription.
