href="https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC6202443/">1. It is a serious infection that affects your lungs by causing inflammation and fluid or pus accumulation in the alveoli (air sacs) of your lungs2. Bacterial pneumonia, especially from Streptococcus pneumoniae or Haemophilus influenzae type b, is a common cause of pneumonia-related deaths. However, viral pneumonia, caused by viruses like respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) and influenza, also contributes significantly to pneumonia cases and fatalities1,3.

What Is Bacterial Pneumonia?

Bacterial pneumonia, as the name suggests, is caused by various bacteria that invade your lungs.
