It belongs to the family <em>Oxalidaceae<\/em>. It has many different species, namely, A.\u00a0<em>dolichocarpa<\/em>, A.<em>microphylla, A.leucopetala, A.bilimbi and A. carambola. <\/em>However<em>,<\/em><strong><em> <\/em><\/strong><em>A. carambola<\/em><strong><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>is<em>\u00a0<\/em>most cultivated and exported species native to southeast Asia<sup><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC5357571\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">1<\/a><\/sup>. Star fruits are juicy, crunchy and a mixture of slightly sweet and sour tastes. They are usually green when small and unripe and turn yellow when ripen.
