The essential oil obtained from citronella is a biopesticide that has a non-toxic mechanism of action. It has been registered by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as an insect repellant and an animal repellant<a href=\"https:\/\/www3.epa.gov\/pesticides\/chem_search\/reg_actions\/reregistration\/fs_PC-021901_1-Feb-97.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><sup>1<\/sup><\/a>. Currently, citronella is one of the most commonly used natural repellents in the market and is used in concentrations of 5-10%<a href=\"https:\/\/malariajournal.biomedcentral.com\/articles\/10.1186\/1475-2875-10-S1-S11\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><sup>2<\/sup><\/a>. The oil of citronella is yellow to brown and has a floral or grassy smell<a href=\"https:\/\/npic.orst.edu\/factsheets\/citronellagen.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><sup>3<\/sup><\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Citronella essential oil has become popular for its use in preventing and managing many diseases. Due to its various constituents like citronellol, geraniol, and citronellal, it has many medicinal properties like wound healing, antimicrobial, anticonvulsant, etc<a href=\"https:\/\/www.eurekaselect.com\/article\/91780\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><sup>4<\/sup><\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Nutritional_Value_of_Citronella\"><\/span><strong>Nutritional Value of Citronella<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The chemical composition of the essential oil of citronella differs according to geographical location.
